Cilician Armenia. King Hetoum I (Հեթում) with Queen Zabel (Զաբել), 1226-1270 AD. Beautiful silver tram
Obverse : Queen Zabel and King Hetoum standing forward, holding a long cross with a star on the lower part of the cross, and an inscription in Armenian script that reads ‘BY THE WILL OF GOD’.
Reverse : Lion standing right with head forward, with a cross behind him, and an Armenian inscription around that reads ‘HETOUM KING OF THE ARMENIANS’. The lions head is somewhat crudely engraved.
